Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation, a SAGE Open Medicine publication, is the first multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, international journal to exclusively focus on this new discipline. Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation is an emerging new era in transplant medicine and has become a viable reconstructive option for patients with extensive tissue defects and severe dysfunctions.

VCA publishes several types of manuscripts including Original Articles, Clinical Studies and Case Reports, Reviews, Commentaries, and highlights from meetings devoted to Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation. Special issues dedicated to particular types of vascularized composite allografts are also anticipated.

It is the purpose of the American Society for Reconstructive Transplantation (ASRT) to provide a platform for the advancement of education, science and practice of composite tissue allotransplantation (CTA) as relevant to reconstructive and transplant surgery.
